In the late 1980s SAL was the first company to develop sucker rod optimization software for inclined wells (SRPUMP 2D). In 1999 SAL developed a new version of SRPUMP, SRPUMP 3D that performs calculations for directional wells basing on three dimensions of the geometry of the well. SAL's president and founder, Dr. Stanislaw Lukasiewicz, a professor of mechanical engineering at Warsaw Technical University and the University of Calgary and research consultant for oil companies in Calgary is the author of the mathematical model for SRPUMP.
